THEFT OUT OF MOTOR VEHICLE AWARENESS

On Friday, 26 May 2017 the complainant was dropping her child at a school in Parklands and left her handbag and laptop on the back seat when she decided to walk her child to the gate.  When she was driving away from the school she realised her purse was stolen from her handbag and her laptop missing.  It took someone two minutes to open the unlocked door to the vehicle and remove the items.

One vehicle owner parked his vehicle in Beach Boulevard, Table View on Friday 26 May 2017, leaving his tablet, GPS and sunglasses in the vehicle.  When he returned to his car on Monday, 29 May 2017 he discovered a window smashed and the items removed.

Other reported cases for the period of 29 May till 31 May 2017, to Table View Police Station revealed that valuables, such as cellular telephones, laptops, backpacks, GPS devices and sunglasses are left inside vehicles.

An appeal is therefore made once again to the community to remove valuable items when the park their vehicles, even if it is only for a few minutes.
